  2. A systematic review and meta-analysis to quantify the effectiveness of pharmacological and lifestyle interventions to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes in people with impaired glucose tolerance IGT. • A total of 21 trials met the inclusion criteria, of which 17, with 8084 participants with IGT, reported results in enough detail for inclusion in the meta-analyses. BMJ. 2007;334(7588):299. Issue 8, November 2013

  3. Study Selection BMJ. 2007;334(7588):299. Issue 8, November 2013

  4. Results: Effect of LSM & risk of developing T2DM Issue 8, November 2013 BMJ. 2007;334(7588):299.

  5. Results: Effect of Pharmacological & Herbal interventions on risk of developing T2DM Issue 8, November 2013 BMJ. 2007;334(7588):299.

  6. Results & Discussion • Intervention can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes in people with IGT, and lifestyle interventions seem to be at least as effective as pharmacological interventions. • Interventions can halve the risk of type 2 diabetes in people with impaired glucose tolerance • The overall effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a policy of prevention or delay of diabetes must consider how different identification and screening strategies would affect the overall evaluation of such policies.
