  1. Educating the Whole Child through Dance as Art Form and Meaning in Children’s Dance

  2. Most Creative • Lesson 7 • In this lesson, the students were asked to create their own movement phrase and perform the phrases to music with tempo changes.

  3. Lesson 7 Most Creative Lesson • Brain dance with rain as the theme • Go over lesson and guidelines for assignment • Question-Wait time • Create their own dances • Reflection

  4. The Break-Through • I challenged my students and was creative by having them perform the same dance phrase to songs with different tempos. • I had the students perform their dance to a slow song first and then a fast song. • The students had a hard time with the slow song at the beginning, but eventually, they got used to it and did a great job.

  5. Reasoning • I feel like I worked really hard to make this lesson engaging and different for the students. • I challenged the students critically and creatively throughout the lesson. • The students were interested in the lesson from the start with the brain dance to the end performances.

  6. Success

  7. Most Improvement • Lesson Plan 4 • In this lesson, the students were asked to perform a dance to and recognize different tempos, as well as keep a beat while using an instrument.

  8. Lesson 4 Most Improvement Lesson • Brain dance with music and no theme • Listen to music and clap rhythms • Learn movement phrase to different rhythms • Perform movement phrases • Reflection

  9. Reasoning • This lesson contained too many pieces of new information for the students to learn in a short amount of time. • I feel like if I would have taken this lesson and divided it into parts, it would have been more effective for myself and the students. • If I had done rhythms one day, choreography another day and then combining them on the third day would have been more successful.
