  1. Introduction to Web Script Framework

  2. What is the Web Script Framework? • Alfresco provides an industry-standard, RESTful API for working with the repository called CMIS. • In that case, a great alternative is to create your own API using the web script framework. • In today's everything-as-a-service environment, the CMS is increasingly seen as a black-box component.

  3. Generating Copies of Whitepaper You can generate digital copies of whitepaper work and access by your own URL’s like - • Example - A URL that returns expense reports pending approval might look like: /alfresco/service/expenses/pending • You can add user names to URL’s too.

  4. Usage of Web Scripts You can use web scripts to expose the Alfresco content repository through a RESTful API to : • Populate JSR-168 portlets. • Capture user-contributed content/data. • Create ATOM or RSS feeds for repository content or business process data; and • Respond to requests for data from the Alfresco Share front-end.

  5. Deployment of Web Scripts • Most of the time, though, you'll be creating several web scripts that will be part of a larger project. • Uploading all of those files to an Alfresco production environment leaves an opportunity for error. • So, for the rest of the tutorial you'll be deploying your web scripts to the class path on the file system.

  6. Benefits of Web Script Framework • Retrieving a list of whitepapers • Retrieving the average rating for a given whitepaper • Retrieving a specific rating • Posting a new rating for a whitepaper and • Deleting all ratings for a given whitepaper.
