  3. Subject matter • No other element reveals more about a director’s style than the choice of subject matter • Common themes running through films can be seen as style

  4. Cinematography • Visual composition can be indicative of style: arrangement of people in the frame, camera angles, point of view, slow or fast motion, color effects, distorting lenses, etc. • Use of color, whether it is sharp or diffused, is also important

  5. Others • Other elements that can considered when evaluating a director’s style are: • Editing • Setting and set design • Sound and score • Casting • Narrative structure
