  1.  Was born on 1st march 1647 AD  Was born in Lisbon, his parents belonged to the Portuguese aristocracy, he disliked the luxury life he lived  He joined the society of Jesus and became a priest in 1622 AD  He wanted to preach the gospel in India  He came to India in 1673 for his missionaries, he studied Tamil and Madurai  He dressed in saffron clothes like sanyasi, became a vegetarian and lived a normal life  He was the superior of the Madurai mission, he went by foot to many places to preach the word of God  He strengthened the Christians in faith, consoled all the Catholics who were fooled by others, worked with the oppressed, he did many miracles and healed serious sicknesses through his strong prayers

  2.  Britto lived a very simple life in poverty and offered his life to the poor  He did many sacrifices for the missions he had to do and also establishing gospel values of truth, justice and love

  3.  In the year 1693 on the 4th of February he breath his last breath in India  He was canonized a saint in the year 1853 on the 22nd of June
