  3. What do we want to achieve • Increase employment opportunities • Increase access to internet • Increase residents skills & confidence • Reduce poverty

  4. PCH Community Insight report benefit claimants Information from Job Centre Plus for November 2012 established that the England average for the number of claimants per ‘available job’ is 3.43. The figure for the Phoenix area is 57.16 claimants per ‘available job’.

  5. How we intend to increase digital inclusion • MyWork Search Application • Providing I.T Training • Installed Wi-fi in Head Office & Community Centres • Establish computer clubs • Jobs clubs • Work in partnership with Eco Communities

  7. What we Offer DIGITAL INCLUSION • An IT and electrical disposal service. • Supply people that need them with affordable re-used PCs for as little as £50 and offer training and support. EMPLOYMENT AND SKILLS • Provide employability services and a range of accredited training to get people into work PROVIDE LOCAL SERVICES/GENERATE JOBS • Offer services from Community Centres and Libraries and train local people to run them.

  8. The issues 8.7 M people live in Social Housing in the UK and NHF estimate that 4.1M are Digitally Excluded. Over 65s and people with Disabilities are more likely to be Digitally Excluded according to the ONS. Approx 25% youth unemployment across London according to CIPD, higher than the overall figure of nearly 20%. Tonnes of IT waste each year going to landfill when it could be re-used. Local Authorities and Housing Associations want to engage and support their local communities but some have limited resources. Some Community Assets in danger of closure and not being used to their full potential

  9. Eco’s Social Impact in 2013 200,000 visitors to our 5 centres that would otherwise be closed to the public. In excess of 100 tonnes of waste IT equipment diverted from landfill. 100s of PCs supplied to local residents. Up to 100 people supported into work. Over 300 accredited training certificates awarded to learners. Up to 1000 learning hours delivered to local residents.

  10. Previous/current projects Training Phoenix residents in Basic IT skills and supporting job searches. Communities that Care project with Lewisham to supply PCs and basic IT training to local sheltered homes and into the homes of isolated people. Get Connected Campaign with Affinity Sutton to supply PCs and training nationally to their residents.
