challenges

  • Establishing a relationship with truck/motor carriers
  • Establishing Cluster Zip Code Zones
  • Establish Zone to Zone matrix –drivers self identify most-used truck routes (personal knowledge/time consuming)
  • Determining types of trucks making deliveries
  • Compilation and analysis of survey data and other info

the survey
The Survey

 Business type (determine the number of warehouses, distribution centers and businesses in each business park)

 Number of deliveries to warehouses, distribution centers and general business

 Day of the week deliveries occur

 Time of the day that deliveries are made (typical delivery pattern)

 Carrier size (determination between 5-axle trucks and delivery trucks)

 Number of outbound loads (shipments) depending on business type

 Destinations of loads to determine the truck routes used in the parish area
