Senior English 10/24/11 • Talk to a character in Brave New World. Ask the character a question, scold them, advise them, yell at them, or beg them to change… whatever. Pretend the character is someone who may listen to you. • What did the mountain climber name his son? • Corvine – crow like; pertaining to acrow. Goals Try to find a big idea to think about while reading. Get openers in the book. Homework – Try to get through chapter 3 or more today.

Do you need to think about things you’ve done? • What do you get when you cross a cat and a canary? • Monoglot – a person who speaks only one language. The opposite of a polyglot Goals –Read quietly contemplate whether or not we need to think/reflect to know ourselves or should we try not to think. Homework – None unless you’d like to catch up on your reading.

The opposite of a polyglot Goals – Discuss quotes and themes from the book in large group. Continue to search for quotes that support that theme in the second part of the book. Homework – Work on your more pages for the week. Write down quotes that you might use to support your theme. Don’t forget the Vocab Quiz tomorrow, week 9 words.
