  1. What is NJHS? • A national organization that leads into National Honor Society in high school. • It is a leadership and service club that focuses on helping others and promoting learning.

What are my Responsibilities as a Member? • You must to maintain a 3.5 Grade Point Average each Quarter. • You are required to attend monthly meetings. • You need to complete 1 service hour each month and a group service project. • If you are unable to attend a meeting, it is your responsibility to notify the advisor in writing.

  3. NJHS has 4 “pillars”… LEADERSHIP SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP CHARACTER

  4. What if I’m really busy? • No problem. • You do have to commit time and effort, but we’ve made membership as flexible as possible. • Your attendance at meeting counts toward your service time. • And…you can complete community service project (s) on your own. • AND…you can participate in our yearly group service project. • Remember service hours are completed outside of the school day.

  5. What kinds of projects does NJHS do? • Volunteer in the community • Volunteer at school (monthly clean up, work on projects before/afterschool with teachers, tutoring, etc) • A fundraiser to benefit a local cause, to be determined by the chapter. (RFL)

  6. Monthly Meetings • Will be held the fourth Tuesday of every month, beginning in October from 8:30AM-9:10, in the library. • Officers will have an additional meeting on the second Tuesday of every month, in room 239 from 8:15AM-9:10AM.

  7. Monthly Meeting Expectations • Be on time and participate! • Bring your community service hour log to file and record • Your attendance at the meeting will be recorded. • Bring a copy of your 9 weeks report card each quarter to file in your folder. • If you are unable to attend, please email Mrs. Sloan regarding the reason.
