Funding Sources • Ohio Board of Regents/Ashland University: • Black Swamp Scholars Teacher Leader Program • Topic: Action Research in Science and Math • Participants: Antwerp, Crestview, Lincolnview, Paulding Exempted, Van Wert City, Wayne Trace, Vantage • Total grant funds available: approx. $80,000 • Each team will receive stipend and allowance to purchase materials

  18. Funding Sources • ODE Grants • Paulding County: • Project ALIGN: Reading Assessment and Standards-based Lessons Funds available: $50,000 -Continuation Grant. The grant will run from October 2003 thru September 2004. • 21st Century Community Learning Centers: • 1 Study Table for Tutors

Evaluations 2002-2003 • What did you like about the PEERS Program? • The opportunity to talk with other teachers. • Hearing the approaches that other teachers use in different situations. • I enjoyed sharing questions, concerns, and successes with my peers. I also enjoyed helping to answer their questions. • Working with teachers is a very valuable way to learn. • It took place at our school. • Graduate credit

Evaluations 2002-2003 • What changes would you like to see made to the PEERS Program? • Less paperwork • I would have liked spending more time in the classrooms that I observed. • Would like to see more teachers involved in the program. • Not so many observations. • Separate category for HSTW Focus Teams

Black Swamp Scholars Summer Academy K-12 Classroom Teachers August 4-8, 2003 20 teachers participated - all 7 school districts were represented Participated in 30 hours of Hands-on math and science activities. Black Swamp Scholars OCTOBER MATHEMATICS ACADEMY K-12 Classroom Teachers October 9-11, 2003 20 teachers participated - all 7 school districts were represented Participated in 16 hours of Hands-on math activities.

PEERS Requirements Proposal • Decide on a topic and Recruit team members • Submit Completed Proposal Form Log Hours: 20 hours-Facilitators & 15 hours-Members • Study Tables: Total 9 hours of Study Table meetings and 6 hours of Observations. • Action Research: Total 12 hours of Action Research meetings and up to 3 hours of outside research. Reports • Complete a Group and Individual Report • Present project to staff (PowerPoint) Stipends • Facilitator $400 • Team Member $200
