    1. 11/18/04 Q of Day? What variable(s) can we use to measure the health of Suisun Marsh? TODAY: 1. Q of Day 2. Preparing for Field trip: Practice with PASCO probes H/W: Air temperature Lab write-up due next Friday.

    2. What variable(s) can we use to measure the health of Suisun Marsh? Measure water temperature. Where? How long? How often? What other variables?

    3. Today’s Lesson Today, we are going to use PASCO probes (pH, temperature and motion detector sensors). Future labs will involve collecting data outside. Q: What is one hypothesis related to temperature that we are going to test at Suisun Marsh?

    4. Hypothesis ???

    5. Learning Stations After we conduct a short activity in this room, you will go to RM. 1 (signs posted) and go through 3 learning stations: Work in partners. Work in this order: Learning Station 1-2-3 Learning Station 2-3-1 Learning Station 3-1-2

    6. Learning Station When your group finishes a station, please move on to the next station. Completing a station requires: Completing task(s) Instructions…It may require one to read it twice. When you finish a station, move on to the next station. If no available space, experiment safely with the sensor. If your group finishes all three, please come back to Rm. 3 and complete station 4 & 5. Reflection

    7. Ticket to Rm. 1 Complete activity that I will model. Modeling Quick Reference Guide for DataStudio with PASPORT

    8. Modeling Quick Reference Guide for DataStudio with PASPORT You may want to take notes. 1) Plug in temperature sensor and USB link 2) Launch data studio If it asks you to set up; then click ok (Install) ? continue anyway. 3) Open setup. 4) Record Data. Click “start” 5) Stop Recording Data. Click “stop” 6) Click on “graph” 7) Click on “Statistics” menu Record Name(s)/mean temperature (units) on Smartboard 8) Go to Rm. 3. Only thing you may need is this Reference Guide. 9) You may have to Login on the laptops. See directions in Rm. 1.

    9. Troubleshooting Are your connections all ok? Unplug, the replug USB sensor into laptop. USB port in a different location on laptops in Rm. 1 Rt. Click on PASPORT symbol on bottom right.

    10. Questions on Learning Stations? Begin determing air temperature in this room. Ticket to Rm. 1 is to write mean temperature on Smartboard.
