Douglas Colliery - contractor control system SYSTEM BENEFITS • All activities of contractors on site are authorised and documented. • Contractor registration requirements are reviewed at monthly intervals. • Contractor records are kept up to date. • Permit and supporting documents are kept on site. • Permit and supporting documents can be checked on site. • Risk assessments and individual employee knowledge can be checked • on site. • List of registered contractor companies communicated weekly. Douglas Colliery - contractor control system EXPANSION OF THE PERMIT TO WORK CONCEPT Modified permit system has been introduced to mine employees working over week-ends • All week-end work is planned and authorised by the relevant Manager or Engineer. • Risk assessments for the jobs to be done are attached to the permission. • Persons required to do the jobs are identified. • Risk assessments are signed for by the persons doing the job. • If there is no risk assessment, it is done and documented before the jobcommences. • A record of all week-end work is kept and stand-bye personnel • check compliance.
