  3. ICAMA • Adoption Agreements in other States who moved to MN • MA Administered by state of residence • Adoption Assistance administered by state where the child was adopted

  4. Begin Date • Under MN Adoption Assistance, MA begins the first day of the month Adoption Assistance is approved. • Eligibility under ICAMA begins the date coverage is requested on form 6.01.

  5. Verifications • Verify eligibility for IV-E and state-funded Adoption Assistance: • Letter from DHS Adoption Assistance and Adoption Assistance Agreement. • Extensions verified by a DHS Adoption Assistance Agreement Amendment.

  6. Verifications Cont’d • Verify eligibility for ICAMA: • Receipt of ICAMA Form 6.01 and Adoption Assistance Agreement. • Extension verified by an ICAMA Form 6.03 Report of Change in Child/Family Status.

  7. Social Security Numbers • No Social Security number required. • Exception: Children who receive state-funded Adoption Assistance from Minnesota are required to provide a valid Social Security number within six months of MA approval.

  8. Citizenship/Immigration • IV-E or state-funded Adoption Assistance are exempt.

  9. Residency • When a child moves from another state to Minnesota, Minnesota becomes financially responsible for that child’s Medical Assistance. • When children move from Minnesota to another state, they become the responsibility of that state if that state has reciprocity. If not, then they remain Minnesota’s responsibility.

  10. Household Composition • A household size of one. • Create a separate health care case, and enter child as member 01. • List adoptive parents on case, but do not list other household members.

  11. Miscellaneous • No asset test. • No income test. • No deductions or disregards.
