Agency observations • Department of Defense S&T cut (except DARPA) • NSF: Only SBE increased (NCSES) • NASA: Space Technology (+23%), Heliophysics, Commercial Crew (+22%) escape the knife • NIH: Increases for translational science, neuroscience (BRAIN Initiative), mental health, big data • USDA: Extramural research boosted • Most agencies ahead of the discretionary curve

  3. Looking ahead… • Congress marking up at current cap level • Senate: no budget resolution • House budget? • Moving quickly? • Can R&D stay ahead of the curve?
