  4. Customs Clearance 101 All shipments must be entered and cleared. Power of attorney. Customs Bond. Proper documentation: Bill of lading, invoice, packing list, other.

  5. Customs Clearance 101 Correct HTS classification and duty payment is responsibility of importer. Must use “reasonable care.” Customs enforces laws for many other governmental agencies (OGA). FDA, USDA, F&W, ATF, DEA, etc., etc.

  6. Customs Clearance 101 Entry detail is sent from Epstein office to Customs data center, in electronic format. Details include importer ID, shipper ID, country or origin, value, HTS classification, OGA data. Most shipments are released electronically. Physical examination of the cargo MAY be performed at the port of cargo location.
