Is it a testable question??? 1. Testable questions ask about objects, organisms, and events in the natural world. • For example: questions involving things like plants, animals, humans, weather patterns etc.
Is it a testable question??? 2. Testable questions can be answered through investigations that involve experiments, observations, or surveys. • For example: roller coaster lab, inquiry blocks, school lunch choice.
Is it a testable question??? 3. Testable questions are answered by collecting and analyzing evidence that is measurable. • For example: roller coaster lab, inquiry blocks, school lunch choice.
Is it a testable question??? 4. Testable questions relate to scientific ideas rather than personal preference or moral values. • For example: most watched television show, NOT favorite television show.
Is it a testable question??? 5. Testable questions do not relate to the supernatural or to non-measurable phenomena. • For example: ghosts, UFOs, the quality of Justin Bieber’s high notes.

Can you write a testable question??? • Think of something that you are curious about and would like to learn more about. (What do you wonder?!) • Write a TESTABLE question that addresses this curiosity. • It MUST meet ALL 5 of our criteria (see next slide).
