  2. Compressed natural gas (CNG) and airport shuttle fleets National Grid now has electric and natural gas service to four (4) states: MA, NH, NY, and RI. • National Grid serves 3.4 million electric customers and 3.2 million natural gas customers. • National Grid is the 2nd largest utility (in terms of number of customers) in the US and 10th largest in the world. • National Grid has headquarters in Westborough, MA (USA) and London, England (UK).

  7. Compressed natural gas (CNG) and fleets Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicle Facts Compressed natural gas or CNG is the compressed form of natural gas. It is the same fuel consumers and businesses use for heating, hot water, drying, and cooking. CNG is compressed so a large volume may be stored in a relatively compact space - such as on board a vehicle. Natural gas is primarily a domestic product. Over 95% of the natural gas supplies originate in North America. The cost of CNG is $2.69 per gallon equivalent, but has an octane rating of 130 versus an octane rating between 87-94 for gasoline. On average, CNG vehicles emit: 95% percent less particulate matter (PM), also known as soot, 90% percent less carbon monoxide (CO), 75% less nitrogen oxide (NOx), and 25% less carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to their gasoline- or diesel-fueled counterparts. CNG vehicles are typically 50% quieter than their diesel counterparts. National Grid and partner AVSG operate 15 natural gas fueling stations in MA and RI. Stations in RI include TF Green, Providence, and Cumberland. For a comprehensive New England map of CNG stations, go to: www.northeastgas.org. Click on “Industry Information”. CNG is the most prevalent alternative fuel in use today in New England.

  8. Compressed natural gas (CNG) and fleets Credits range from $2,500 to $32,000 depending on the size of the vehicle $2,500-$8,000: 8,500-14,000 lbs. $12,500-$20,000: 14,000-26,000 lbs. $20,000-$32,000: Over 26,000 lbs. National Grid also has rebates – based upon fuel consumption
