Option Exercise (22 Nov – 28 Nov) The following groups of P6 pupils who passed PSLE are eligible to participate in the Option Exercise: • Those who did not participate in DSA-Sec Exercise • Those who were unsuccessful in DSA-Sec Exercise • Those who were successful in DSA-Sec Exercise and are eligible to opt for Third Language and/or Option Band

Considerations When Making S1 Options and Choosing Schools • Academic Performance of the Child and Previous Year’s Posting Aggregate Ranges of Schools • opt for schools that take in pupils with an academic ability comparable to that of your child • PSLE aggregate ranges for schools are not pre-determined before posting • vary from year to year, depending on pupils’ PSLE results and their school choices. • Distance • choose schools near their home so that it will be more convenient for their child to travel to and from school. • Programmes/Schemes Offered by Secondary Schools • schools that offer the programmes/schemes that your child is interested in • Special Needs of the Child • special facilities and resources to support pupils with special needs

Submission of S1 Option Form • Indicate all the six secondary choices, in order of preference • Complete S1 Option Form, prior to submission • Submit the completed S1 Option form electronically via S1-IS or physically through the primary school • Print & retain a copy of Verification Slip (VS) after submitting your child’s options • If unable to view, log on to the IS-S1 again to confirm status

Submission of S1 Option Form Through the Primary Schools • 2 copies of verification slip (VS) should be printed out for each pupil after capturing their secondary school options. • Ensure entries in S1 Both copies are to be signed by the parent/guardian and school staff-in-charge, and endorsed with the school stamp. The parent/guardian would retain one copy, while schools would retain the original. • For Option Forms submitted through a proxy, he/she would have to submit a S1 Proxy Form, duly endorsed by the pupil’s parent/legal guardian, appointing him/her to act on their behalf.

Use of proxy form • Collect your child’s / ward’s PSLE results slip, S1 Option Form and other relevant documents on your behalf • Submit the duly completed S1 Option Form on your behalf • Report to secondary school for registration • By appointing the proxy, • you have authorised the person to act on my behalf without any reservations. • you will bear full responsibility if the proxy fails to perform any of the above as authorised by you.

  11. Completed Proxy form from the parent of the pupil* • A photocopy of the parents’ NRIC (both sides) • A photocopy of the Birth Certificate of the pupil • Photocopy of the proxy’s NRIC (both sides). Proxy is required to produce original NRIC at the school when requested.

Making S1 option • Strongly encouraged to complete the hardcopy S1 Option Form before accessing the S1-IS • S1 website – www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/secondary-one-posting/ • Access using your child/ward’s BC No./FIN and the S1 PIN • The unique S1 PIN is issued to you in the sealed S1 Option Form • School Internet Facilities will be made available to parents of P6 pupils for submitting their child’s school options online via the S1-IS.

  23. S1 Option FormFor Parents Who Submit Through Schools • Parents are required to endorse on the S1 Option Form with their name, signature and to provide mobile contact number/alternative contact

Exercising Secondary School Options • Submission through Internet by parents/guardians • Complete S1 Option Form before online submission • Access S1 website and click on the S1-IS link. http://www.moe.gov.sg/esp/schadm/sec1/pslemain.htm • BC/FIN and S1 PIN (on the S1 Option Form) • Printing of Verification Slip as proof of successful submission • 7 Calendar days (including Saturday and Sunday) starting from 12noon on 22 Nov until 3pm on 28 Nov (Singapore Time) • S1-IS step-by-step guide in S1 Information Booklet - Part One • School Internet Facilities (for parents to use) – PCs (with Internet access) and printers will be set up for parents use

Posting Results Release Parents may access their child’s secondary school posting results via • the following channels: • Short Messaging System (SMS) via applicant’s mobile number (if provided by applicants during the Option Exercise) • Access the S1-IS at S1 website • (www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/secondary-one-posting/) • Access the Interactive Voice Response System at Tel: 6691-2066 • Approach their child’s primary school • For those parents who wish to make use of the internet facilities at their child’s primary school to check the results, they may do so on 20 Dec 2012 from 9 am.

  28. Reporting to Secondary Schools (20 Dec 2012 tentatively) • All successful PSLE students (including those who are admitted via DSA-Sec) are required to report to the secondary schools they are posted to on 20 Dec 2012 at 8.30 am. • Students who wish to appeal for a transfer may apply at the secondary schools that they were posted to on the same day. Such transfers are subject to availability of vacancies and will only be considered for students with: a. Serious medical conditions (e.g. chronic heart conditions, kidney problems) b. Dyslexia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder c. Physical Disabilities (e.g. using wheelchair, crutches)
