  4. Objectives: • Early detection of “at risk” employees & tasks • Prompt and effective interventions to reduce risk • Close monitoring and follow-up of high risk cases and work groups. Try to focus Ergo Program resources on complex & high risk tasks. • Develop employee self-reliance and supervisor accountability • Monitor and evaluate Ergo Program performance • Move ergo ‘upstream’ reactive → proactive

Improve Ergonomics Training Programs • Practical (esp. ergo for supervisors) & useful • De-emphasize ergo “hardware” and “proper posture” and emphasize a real-world problem-solving approach • Emphasize interactive training and demonstrations vs. lecture • Emphasize EMPLOYEE self-reliance and SUPERVISOR accountability…monitoring problems, managing workloads and implementing ergo recommendations

Speech Recognition • Pilot test of Dragon NaturallySpeaking v. 9 • Assistance from IT to help deploy software • ID equipment: headset/microphone, computer speed/memory • Development of LBNL macros for compatibility & productivity • Group, online, and individual training • Support, esp. for new users

Remedy Interactive • Web-based self-assessment & training • Each employee rated in red, yellow or green zone of ‘risk’ based on combination of discomfort and posture scores • Individual & group data available for follow-up • Easy generation of e-mails to individuals and groups based on self-assessment results & ratings

Ergo Advocate Program • First line of defense and rapid response system • - Be aware of ergonomics situation in the Division • - ID problem postures and implement simple “quick fixes” • - report complex problems to Safety Coord and/or Ergonomist • Ergonomic Evaluations and Interventions • - Perform “preventive” ergo evaluations or review Remedy results • - Use ergo tools (e.g., Checklists and Ergo Product Catalog) • - Monitor progress of ergo modifications for employees - is it working?
