Multi-touch Technology • Current Input has limited degrees of freedom • Mouse: 2 DOF • As prices drop new technology needs to be considered • FMTSID: multi-point touch sensor-based device ~1985 • Diamond Touch: multi-user touch- sensitive surface (Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories) • Smart Skin: Multi- touch system - higher resolution ratio (Sony) • iPhone: first mobile device with access to multi-touch technology (Apple) • Everywhere Display: Camera & projector; turns a common touch screen into an interactive display • PlayAnywhere: Simple Front Facing Camera • FTIR: Beams of LED reach the surface of the screen from the touch-screen cross-section will reflect • Microsoft Surface: Simple Front Facing Camera
