  3. Eating disorders are illnesses in which the people experience severe disturbances in their eating behaviors and related thoughts and emotions. People with eating disorders typically become pre-occupied with food and their body weight. Introduction

Answer these 5 questions honestly: • Do you make yourself Sick because you feel uncomfortably full? • Do you worry you have lost Control over how much you eat? • Have you recently lost more than One stone in a three month period? • Do you believe yourself to be Fat when others say you are too thin? • Would you say that Food dominates your life? Two or more “yes” answers indicate some level of disordered eating.

Ellern Mede is independent, but requires close liaison with NHS and private primary care for continuity of care and crisis planning. The advantage means these other resources assist you both during and after your Ellern Mede Outpatient Programme. We offer Day Patient services when you require a more intensive package of support but don’t require full hospitalisation. We can help you to stay out of hospital this way.

  6. Conclusion Ellern Mede is an independent provider as well as an NHS Qualified Provider contracted by NHS England. Our inpatient services accept both NHS and Self-Pay or Insurance-funded patients through two separate referral streams. For publically funded services we work in partnership with the NHS, CCGs and Local Authorities (NHS referrals). For Outpatients and Private Inpatients, contact our Private Referrals team. Please note that NHS patient can not self-refer to our service.
