  2. Ulla Boll turned 100 on April 2, 2013. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, her daughter Birgit Hare and Family hosted a celebration on April 13th. Flowers and cards soon starting arriving. On the big day there was much ‘fuss’ made as Ulla would say.

  3. The dining table was laden with a Danish Smørrebrød – cheeses from Denmark, leverpostej made by Nicole, and many Danish recipes prepared by Birgit and Jane to celebrate Ulla’s native land.

  4. 100 balloons rested outdoors among palms and as red and white highlights inside. Florida’s weather was as beautiful as the tourist brochures advertise. Fresh Gulf shrimp, oysters, and stone crab claws from Captain Eddie’s lent a taste of Florida. American food of subways and wraps as well as potato and macaroni salads was offered. Stanley with wife Rose and Jeff enjoy some conversation and Florida sunshine.

  5. Ulla with great-grandson, Phillip. The guests soon started to arrive and it was time to break out the beer and wine to toast our birthday girl. Ulla with family friend, Anne who currently resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Guests came from Venice, Gainesville, Georgia, North Carolina, and Michigan. Our Canadian guests made up the international contingent and are part year residents of Florida. Not pictured in the slide show were Chad’s stepdad Dane. Also at the party was Ed – Grandma’s neighbor.

  6. Pictured her are family friends -Anna, Cindy and Sabrena. Of course there was a generous offering of sweets. Chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing and vanilla with butter cream frosting were made by Jane. A traditional Danish layer cake and Kransekage were ordered from a Danish bakery using the internet and UPS – neither of which was available in 1913. Cindy worked at the Gulf Restaurant becoming a good family friend. Sabrena and Bettina have been best first since the first grade – almost 50 years! Anna is from Halifax, Canada and met Birgit when she began renting.

  7. Jane and Bettina put some photo collages together depicting Ulla’s parents, grandparents, her flapper look as wall as the Manasota Key era with Lambert.

  8. Family Friend Rose and grandson, Jeff. Family Friends – Anna and Jane. Jane met Ulla through Birgit when they become neighbors. Ulla enjoyed reminiscing about days gone by and catching up with family and family friends. Chad’s mom, Kim. Sherry – wife of great-grandson Mario – and her aunt and uncle – Ellen and Jim. Pat the Barber. Pat has been doing Ulla’s hair for over a decade and is a mainstay in the Venice community.
