  3. Get into selection groups and come up with attributes that you will look for

Squad Trialists (30 player picked for nominations) • How to run trials: • Divide up into positions of the court • Eg: one person look at the shooters one person to look at the defenders two people divided up to look at mid court • Have a check list of what you are looking for • Every time a player shows those attributions tick it off also comment on additional things

Squad Trials Pre-Trials • Make up the initial lists/teams Announce first lot of trial teams in advance by using a whiteboard courtside • Make sure you have enough coaches/ people to help assist with the trials • Organise someone not selecting to take players for warm up • Organise which selectors will be delegated to each of the areas of the court to select • Ensure that you have all the necessary gear • Prepare registration forms to collect names, addresses, emails, phone numbers and positions • Prepare game lists, quarter lists, player/ position profiles and time played

Trials • Arrive early • Ensure everything is set up • Have first game list drawn up in advance and display courtside • Get the non-selector to take warm-up • Where there are spectators, avoid being overheard when discussing • Ensure all players get equal amount of court time by recording the positions played.
