Fundraising - DO • Devote (at least) one early team meeting solely to fundraising training • Discuss the benefits/spiritual aspects • Go over the specifics of what to include in a letter IN DETAIL • PERSONALIZATION • Host partner info • Purpose/vision • Trip details (what you’ll be doing) • Partnership ask • How to give (both check & credit card) • Personal contact information • Provide samples! (good and bad). Form letter is another option

Fundraising - DO • Create comprehensive list of “Who to send to” • Review letters of team members BEFORE they’re sent • Set deadlines! • Letter submitted for review • Sent by • Total amount due (1 month before) • Train team in following-up after letters • Brainstorm alternative fundraising (individual & group)

  9. Fundraising - DO • Show team how to track fundraising • Inform team of Fundraising Seminar December 5 (dead day) • Consult your POC for guidance/direction!

  10. Fundraising – DON’T • Assume everyone on your team can naturally fundraise well • Wait until the Spring – do before Winter Break • Skim over – be as detailed and thorough as possible! • Use black Give button on far right side of new website interface…we won’t get it! • Anticipate a select few to give in large amounts to reach goal • Plan a group fundraiser without consulting your POC

  11. Fundraising – DON’T • Allow those paying for trip in full to not fundraise – they can still do so on behalf of the team! • Allow team members to feel like they aren’t expected to raise the full cost of the trip. Any exceptions must be discussed at outset with POC.
