  3. TODAY: It’s Personal • I Am poem • Where I’m from poem • Autobiographical Acrostic • I’m a diamond in the rough – Diamante • D-Aikus – personal space

  4. Autobiographical Acrostic • This one is sooooooooooooo simple • Write your name down the page (First and Last) • Each letter has its own line – then for each one find a word or phrase that expresses who you are

I am a Diamond in the Rough – Diamante • Line 1 – First Name • Line 2 – two adjectives that describe you • Line 3 – three interesting (ING) action verbs about you • Line 4: Four nouns about you • Line 5: – three interesting (ING) action verbs about you • Line 6: two adjectives that describe you • Line 7: Last Name

  7. D-aikus • A traditional Haiku is a short Japanese Nature poem. It has three unrhymed lines. The focus is on syllables and imagery. • Richard Wright took the traditional Haiku and personalized it by putting an urban spin to it. LINE 1: 5 syllables Line 2: 7 syllables Line 3: 5 syllables A D-aiku is a haiku about the D (You will write 3 of them)
