  8. 86 Heroin Addicts (Three groups: Qigong only, Meds only, No Meds or Qigong) • Qigong patients by day five decreased anxiety scores by nearly 80%. • Most qigong patients could sleep after two to three days of practice: after six days 67% of qigong patients sleeping normally. Only 7.6% of control group slept normally after two to three days. (Average length of difficulty sleeping 15 days for most residents). • By seventh day qigong patients had reported a cessation of withdrawal symptoms. In other groups, symptoms still being documented at the end of the 10 day program. • By the end of third day, half of qigong patients no longer had detectable morphine levels. In comparison, 92% of the medication group and 77% of control patients still had morphine at that time. Five days after program began, all the qigong patients tested negative.
