Jeremiah • A son of a priest 1:1 “a youth” • A prophet 1:4-9 called in 627 B.C. • Unmarried 16:2 maybe married later 32:6-44 • Wrote Jeremiah and Lamentations • Sounds like today’s news Lam. 5:4,6 • Considered great by Jews…many years later Matt. 16:13-14 • Lamented Josiah’s death 2 Chron. 35:20-25 • Prophesied in Josiah’s day (intro. to judgments 2 Kings 23:26-27)

Jeremiah • Was rejected by his family 12:6 • His town wanted to kill him 11:21 • Prophesied against the kings 22:1-30 • Against Shallum (Jehoahaz) 22:1-12 • Against Jehoiakim22:13-23 penknife 36:1-32 • Against Coniah (Jehoiachin) 22:24-30 • Later against Zedekiah (like Pilate) 34:1-6, 39:1-7 dungeon 37-38 • The people trusted in other countries
