  3. Data • Survey of GTP and PGCE trainees mid year • Reflective accounts of lesson observations • Survey and focus groups with newly qualified teachers ( 2/3 way through first year of teaching

The Analysis Found.. • Trainee teachers had observed on average 7 lessons at mid year point in their training with 75% having a specific focus most commonly behavioural management • 75 % applied learning from observation into their own lessons • About one third thought observing experienced teachers ( expert) was more valuable than other recently qualified teachers • Few teachers were observing lessons on Teachers TV • Teachers want guidance on what to focus on
