Email Overview • Microsoft Exchange/Outlook • Migration not under consideration – GW doesn’t play nice with others • Groupwise – leave server up for period of time/read only – no send/receive • Email addresses – will be changed to @sd74.bc.ca; a ‘mail forwarding’ script will be setup to forward @gw.sd74.bc.ca email. • Address Books – personal address books will need to be saved by users (instructions will be sent out); general district address book will come from Active Directory accounts

Active Directoryis: • a database that contains configuration information, authentication requests, and information about all of the objects on the network. • allows you to efficiently manage users, computers, groups, printers, applications, and other directory-enabled objects from one secure, centralized location • everythingwill be connected to Active Directory – “single sign-on”

Teacher Classroom Monitoring • Snapshot of all students’ desktop screens • Teachers can “Draw” on a student’s desktop and text messaging • Projects Teacher’s desktop to all computers • Highlights student’s work to all computers in the class • Stop access to the internet by group or by users • Force students to a specific web site or program • Can Logoff Students, Shutdown or Power-on • Quiz / Poll Students • View Student Applications – Disable Selected App.
