FEMP’s Sustainable Federal Fleets Program Mission: Assist Federal agencies with meeting or exceeding requirements for reducing fleet petroleum consumption FEMP assists agencies with: • Understanding and meeting Federal requirements • Analysis and tools • Technical assistance • Education and communication

Analysis and Tools Fuel consumption dashboard (FleetDASH) • Uses monthly credit card transaction data to track fuel consumption in GSA-leased vehicles, identifying successes as well as “missed opportunities” to use alternative fuel when it was available nearby • Currently 8 participating agencies Alternative fuel infrastructure development • Geographic analysis of fleet fueling patterns, for facilitating development of new alternative fuel infrastructure • Identifies where existing alternative fuel infrastructure is underutilized • Identifies where new infrastructure could be best located to serve Federal fleets

Technical Assistance Alternative fuel vehicle selection and placement (NOVA) • NREL Optimal Vehicle Acquisition (NOVA) analysis • Recommendations for the optimal alternative fuel vehicle to replace each vehicle eligible for replacement in FY 2013, based on local alternative fuel availability, the fuel efficiency of specific vehicles available through GSA, agency budget, and other factors • Currently 11 participating agencies

NREL Optimal Vehicle Acquisition (NOVA) Analysis GOAL: Identify an optimal fleet acquisition strategy to maximize reductions in petroleum use & GHG emissions • PRIMARY METHODS: • Align AFVs with available infrastructure • Acquire the most efficient vehicles • PRIMARY CONSTRAINTS: • AFV Budget • Fleet Mandates • Mission Requirements OUTCOME: Specific vehicle acquisition recommendations for optimal fleet inventory
