  1. Welcome to Fifth Grade I love teaching your children!!! Please take a moment to sign up for room parties and field trips.

  2. Holly Hatton • I have been teaching for 20 years. • I have my Master’s Degree in Education. • I have 6 children. • My email address is rohatton@smsd.org • My school phone number is 993-4723. • I am available until 3:30 every day.

  3. Projects • Heroes Project (October-January) • Science Project (March-April) • Book Reports (monthly starting in October) • Poetry (May)

  4. Field Trips • Science City (October) • Heroes Assembly (February) • SM North Musical (January) • Mahaffie Farmstead and Stagecoach Stop (May)

  5. Homework • We will have homework nightly. • The district standard is 50 minutes for 5th grade. • Always look for math and spelling. • Students should be reading at least 15 minutes per night. • Assignments that are not completed during the day will be homework.

  6. Accelerated Reader • Students are competing to see who can read the most AR books. • Students should be reading an AR book nightly. • Students will be working to meet an independent reading contract goal for each book.

  7. Websites • www.harcourtschool.com type in password bennett and Shawnee Mission for school district. • www.algebasics.com is an excellent site that can teach math concepts • Web backpack at www.smsd.org will be updated with information and students can access powerpoint.
