INTRODUCTION Steel is a very valuable metal that is used in many sectors, including construction and infrastructure, mechanical equipment, home appliances, electrical equipment, transportation, chemical industry, and so on, due to its durability, high strength, and low cost.   3. MILD STEEL Carbon steel is frequently referred to as "mild steel" or "basic carbon steel." The American Iron and Steel Institute recommends carbon steel for engineering applications since it contains less carbon (less than 2% carbon) without incorporating additional obvious alloying components. Carbon steel is the most common type of steel and is used in a wide range of applications. Despite its strength, mild steel is also exceedingly flexible, which prevents it from tearing when bent. This is suitable for earthquake-prone locations since it can endure large seismic motions.

  4. HIGH STRENGTH STEEL The phrase "tensile" strength describes the amount of stress that a material can withstand before breaking or failing. High Strength steels are low-carbon steel mixed with chromium, molybdenum, silicon, manganese, nickel, and vanadium to increase their malleability and ductility. It can be processed and quenched to develop the toughest metal that is stronger than other steels on the market.

MILD STEEL VS HIGH STRENGTH STEEL Composition Tensile Strength Mild steel is a type of carbon steel that contains 0.15 to 0.25% carbon and High Strength steel has a carbon content of 0.60 - 0.80%, Manganese content of 0.60%, Silicon content of 0.20%, Sulfur content of 0.05%, and Phosphorus content of 0.05%. The ability of a material to resist stress, strain, or load is referred to as its strength. The maximal tensile strength of mild steel ranges from 600 to 800 N/mm2. On the other hand, the maximal tensile strength of high-strength steel is approximately 2000 N/mm2.

  6. MILD STEEL VS HIGH STRENGTH STEEL Brittleness Malleability Brittleness is a measure of how quickly a material breaks, with little or no plastic deformation. Brittle materials are those that quickly break into pieces or may be reduced to powdered form. The capacity of a material to be hammered or pushed into shape without breaking or shattering is known as malleability. In comparison, high-strength steel has less malleability than mild steel.
