  1. 6th Grade Orientation Welcome Students and Parents

  2. Typical Day in Middle School Arrive on the Middle School basketball courts between 8:00am and 8:10 am. Students enter at 8:10am and go directly to their locker. They report to homeroom by 8:15am, where they will give lunch count, take attendance and listen to am announcements. Students then report to 1st period. They have 2-3 minutes to go to their next class. After the first 4 periods (approximately 45 mins each) students report to lunch. After lunch/recess, students report to their final 3 periods. Students are then dismissed at 2:45pm.

  3. Lockers, Lunch, Recess • Before Homeroom: Get books and materials for periods 1 and 2. • After period 2: Students get books and materials for periods 3-4. • After period 4, students get their lunch/recess items. **Students are NOT permitted to go to their lockers between lunch/recess** • Students begin lunch at 11:45; they may begin going to recess at 12:00pm until 12:15pm. **Unlike elementary school, middle school students do NOT have 45 minutes for lunch/recess** • After recess, students go to lockers to get books for periods 5,6 and 7. • Students return to lockers after period 7 to prepare to go home.

  4. Courses / Schedule Homeroom is based solely on ABC order. (Ms Calabria; Ms Becker; MsHarrrison) All 6th grade students are grouped for English language arts (ELA) for periods 1 and 2 (Mr Lego; Ms Harrison; Mr McDevitt; Ms Becker). Students are then regrouped and move through their schedule with their TEAM for the remaining 5 periods. Core 1 Math: 1 period (Ms Harrison; Ms Becker) Science: 1 period (Mr Lego) Social Studies: 1 period (Mr McDevitt) Specials: 2 periods per day = 10 periods per week

  5. 10 Periods of Specials per Week Math Power Hour: 2 times per week (Ms Harrison / Ms Calabria) Music: 1 time per week (Ms Egan) Art: 1 time per week (Ms Ticknor) FCS / Tech Ed: 1 time per week for ½ year. (FCS: MsSirkin; Tech Ed: MrCiterone) Health: 2 times per week (Dr Mullin) Phys Ed: 2 times per week (Dr Mullin) Computers: 1 time per week (Dr Goldberg)

  6. Clubs and Activities Fit Club: Mr Barrett Baking Club: Ms Garvin Art Club: Ms Ticknor Environmental Club: Mr Lego Newspaper Club: Dr Goldberg Student Council: Mr Barrett and MsLeddy

  7. Grading and Honor Roll • All subject areas receive a numeric grade, including special area classes. • Distinguished Honor Roll: All A’s. • Honor Roll: Combination of A’s and B’s (allowed to have 1 C). • Breakdown: • A: 91-100 • B: 84-90 • C: 77-83 • D: 70-76 • NP: 55-69
