Economic Impact of The Arts • National study concluded that Arts groups in Orlando generate $95.5 million in spending, which helps support 3,450 local jobs. • Orlando non-profit Arts groups help generate $64.5 million in household income and $8.51 million in local and state revenues. • Arts and culture in Central Florida is a $165 million industry • Supports 5,661 full time jobs • $111 million in household income • $20 million in local and state government revenue Information provided by the nonprofit Americans for the Arts

History of Mad Cow • Mad Cow Theatre was founded in 1997 • Invited to move downtown in 2000 • Produced 110+ plays and musicals to date • Produced 9 Orlando Cabaret Festivals • 12,000 – 15,000 visitors annually • Over 200 events per year • Active almost 365 days per year with shows, classes, rehearsals, and special events, often with 2-3 of these activities on any given day. • Of the 50 arts groups in 9 counties of Central Florida, Mad Cow Theatre is ranked among the top 20 organizations according to size. • Mad Cow Theatre’s economic impact is approximately $1.2 Million annually.

Education and Outreach Past Community Engagement Activities • Summer Teen Intensive Workshops • In-School workshops with Orange County Public Schools • Edgewater HS – District 3 • Howard MS – District 4 • Lake Eola Charter School – District 5 • Nap Ford Community School – District 5 • Boone High School – District 1 • Other Orange County Schools • A Boys and Girls Club Cabaret (Mayor’s Matching Grant Program) - Districts 3 & 5 • Supported through grants from Florida Theatrical Association and the Universal Orlando foundation. • *Plans to expand to District 6 - Universal Boys and Girls Club • Technical Designer Discussion with Valencia Community College in October 2011 • Public discussions with Universal Orlando, Walt Disney World, & Busch Gardens attraction designers. • UCF and Rollins film and theatre student groups

Ongoing & Future Education/Community Outreach Ongoing • Adult Acting Classes • In-School workshops with Orange County Public Schools • Presentations and performances in the Orange County Library System • Talk-back sessions with the Cast every regular Thursday and Sunday performance • 76 Talk-backs scheduled in season 15 2011-2012 (18 completed, 57 remain on schedule) Future • Expansion of on-site student workshops to include both acting and technical disciplines. • Have a proposed sponsorship package for the Boys and Girls Club Cabaret Program for 2012. • Daytime enrichment for seniors in Downtown High-Rises and other retirement communities.

Mad Cow Theatre is one of Orlando’s most respected professional theatre companies presenting compelling works of theatre for a wide-range of audiences • As part of the restructuring of the 55 West Project and pursuant to the Amended and Restated Incentive Agreement, the owner of the 55/54 West property leased approximately 8,854 sq. ft. to the City for a term of 75 years to be used as arts space. • City intends to enter into a sub-lease with Mad Cow Theatre. Inc

  8. Inthe Arts Space Lease approved by City Council on December 6, 2010, 55/54 West Landlord agreed to contribute $80/sq. ft. towards the build-out costs of the theatre for a total of $708,320. • Fifty percent of which has been received, the balance is due upon 50% completion of build-out.

General Agreement Conditions • Mad Cow has provided copies of binding pledge agreements that provide funds for the majority of these payments. • Current balance of pledges is $500,000. • Mad Cow Theatre is responsible for any additional funds needed to obtain a certification of occupancy for the theatre space. No additional public funds will be extended to complete build out of the theatre space.
