Veterinarian

The career I want to pursue is a veterinarian. A veterinarian is a professional who practices veterinary medicine by treating disease, disorder, and injury to animals. The reason I want to become a veterinarian is because I love animals.

College

  • AN actual degree is not mandatory, but you must complete the requisites required by the particular school. Most veterinary programs require undergraduate science classes in chemistry, biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology. Animal science is also usually required.
slide4

Licensing

  • Before you become a veterinarian, you must first get your license. Every state requires licensing for veterinarians. Depending on where you choose to be a vet, you may have to complete an examination or test. If so, this exam has to be completed over the course of 8 hours.

Training

  • You must have certain training to become a veterinarian. You must have training in clinical procedures, including, disease diagnosis and treatment, surgery, toxicology, obstetrics, anesthesiology, radiology, and zoology.

Salary

  • The salaries of veterinarians vary depending on what type of veterinarian you become. If you become an animal care center veterinarian, you can make up to $105,000 a year. If you become a er veterinarian, you can make up to $95,000.

Activities

  • Usually veterinarians do things like the declawing of cats, docking of tails, cropping of ears, and debarking of dogs. Although I do not agree with these things because I feel it takes away the nature of certain animals.
