  1. Crocheting Life Trans 20 Kayla Larson

  2. Why did I choose crocheting? • For this project we had to pick something we were interested in learning about. I didn’t know if I should knit or crochet but after doing some research I found out that crocheting is easier to learn at first and many people learn to knit afterwards. • I decided to learn how to crochet. I wanted to be able to make things like toques, mitts, scarves, etc. I’ve always wanted a hobby I could do in my spare time and crocheting seemed perfect for it. Once I learn how to crochet I could continue doing it as I get older as well. • Also, I can save money from it because the supplies for it is very cheap compared to actually buying stuff like scarves and mitts. Things I make can also be used as gifts!

  3. What did I learn? • What supplies was needed • How to hold the hook and yarn • Basic terms used • How to count stitches • How to make a slipknot as well as a single, double, and triple crochet. • I learnt how to make a beanie and a scarf as well.

  4. How did I learn? • When I first started I had no idea how to crochet. A friend taught me how to hold the hook and yarn, as well as how to do a single crochet. Everything else I learnt was from the internet. I would watch YouTube videos and read steps on how to basic crochet on google. Kelsey and I were both learning so we would help each other occasionally. It took a couple tries to understand and get the hang of it but it gets really easy. I watched a video on how to make the beanie I made. I also made a scarf but I just made up my own pattern which was simple.

  5. Next Steps • I plan on continuing to crochet • I would like to learn how to make mitts, slippers and headbands • I will buy more yarn to have a wider variety of color • I would also like to make gifts for people on their birthdays or for Christmas I enjoyed this project and am glad I know how to crochet now 
