MOU Status • MOU language agreed to by the collaboration at the May 2012 meeting • In May 2012, DOE ordered all of its laboratory to submit all MOUs including international collaborators to DOE for approval before signing • Fermilab submitted the InterAction Collaboration MOU to DOE for approval in early September • As of early November, despite inquiries, there is no information about the status of our MOU November 19, 2012

Additional background • Since DOE’s new order, Fermilab has so far received approval only for a couple of MOUs that do not include any commitment of funds. • The InterAction collaboration MOU is Fermilab’s first submission that includes monetary transactions. • Fermilab is optimistic that the MOU will be approved before the spring collaboration meeting.   7. MOU and funding for interactions.org • In 2012, the only institution for which the MOU appears to have posed a problem for funding is IHEP Beijing (and possibly also INFN) • Invoices for 2013 will be sent in April • Will the lack of an MOU pose a problem for other institutions in 2013? • Can we wait until the business meeting in April to discuss other possibilities for the MOU?
