  2. Sheikh Farid Ji • Religious Affiliation: Islam • Lived in Panjab in the 12th century • Pioneer of the Panjabi poetry • His compositions were passed orally to successive generations. Adi Granth is the only source available with the poetry of Baba Farid Ji • Guru Nanak • GGS: • 2 hymns under Asa musical measures. • 2 hymns under Suhi measure • 112 saloks toward end of Scripture

Bhagat Kabeer Ji • Religious Affiliation: Islam • Born 1398 A.D (71 years BEFORE who?) • Lived during great political crisis in India • Member of the lower caste (weaver) • Was abandoned by his parents and adopted by a weaver • Largest non-Guru contributor: • 227 Padas in 17 ragas and 237 saloks

His message in GGS • To appreciate life, you have to appreciate death • Avoid all quarreling • Non-violence is the best ornament of a peaceful life • I wish ever to live in Thy love, O GodIf I become the dust under Thy feet, I shall liveI thy slave desire none but Thee in both worlds;For Thee I will live and for Thee I will die.

  6. Bhagat Naam Dev • Religious Affiliation: Hindu • Born in 1270 AD to a low-caste tailor in Maharashtra. • Did not care for worldly possessions • Occupation: Low-caste tailor • Has 61 hymns in GGS

  7. His views • Believed that: • God is in everything • there is nothing but God • Considered the world and God to be one • the foam (solid ground) and the water are not different • One has to break away from maya and try to live a pure life.
