India and USTDA • Since 1983, over 200 USTDA activities • USTDA committed $11.1 million in FYs 2004 thru 2009 for projects in numerous sectors, reflecting growing trade relationship • Business results: Over $1 billion documented exports in the energy, mfg., transport, mining, environ-ment & other sectors • Portfolio of projects continues growth in FY2010
Program Highlights: Independent Agency of the U.S. Federal Government 260 emerging market project activities funded in FY 2008 Grant size range: US$250,000 - US$800,000 USTDA has facilitated over $31 billion in U.S. exports to emerging markets since 1981. Jordan Concentrated Solar Power Plant • Feasibility Study Partnership with U.S. technology provider eSolar and Jordan’s Millennium Energy Industries / Ma’an Development Area • USTDA $738K grant; eSolar and Grantee contributions of $924K • Study on technical, economic, development requirements of proposed 5 MW modular solar power facilities, targeting 46 MW design basis and ultimate scale-up • Supporting national target of 9% renewable primary sources by 2020
USTDA Funding Criteria USTDA evaluates projects based on the following criteria: • Likelihood of receiving implementation financing. • Developmental impact in the host country. • Mutual benefits for the United States and host country, including commercial opportunities for U.S. firms.
Requesting USTDA Funding • No formal application procedure. Guidelines can be found online at www.ustda.gov under Model Proposal Format. • Requests can be made year-round. • Requests may come from a foreign entity or project sponsor, or from a U.S. firm interested in the project. • Public and private overseas entities are eligible for assistance.
