How does BIRP work • Register to become a “Citizen Scientist” • You will receive an Observer number from ADU • Visit any Protected area and record the birds you see and their breeding status • I think I saw the bird but not sure of ID “0” • Seeing is believing “1” • Foreplay – Males displaying “2” • Homebuilding (Carrying nesting material) “3” • Bringing up the kids (Eggs in nest or feeding chicks) “4” • Pensioners (Not doing it now but did breed in the past) “9”
How does BIRP work • Complete the form either in Excel or on Paper and eventually directly on line • Submit the list to BIRP • As an email attachment to birp@adu.org.za • In paper format to ADU at UCT • On Line (Still to be tested and made available)
