  3. Technical Committee Mission Support sections and chapters on all activities related to technical as well as help them in membership development and rejuvenation.

  4. Technical Committee Helps Sections to… • Organize technical programs • Find speakers • Explore funding possibilities for technical activities from societies and/or Region 4 • Organize conferences (ex: eit) • Cooperate with section leaders in membership development

  5. East Area Tech Activities 2011: SubraGanesan • IEEE SEM: • Held 2 conferences for 15 chapters in the section • Celebrated 100 years of IEEE • EMC Society chapter held a workshop • Computer Society chapter held a one day workshop on embedded systems • Encouraged the east area sections to organize half-day or full-day technical workshops • Contacted the section chairs to provide the list of the technical workshops that they held.

  21. Why Are Technical Workshops Important for Practicing Engineers? • Help develop technical skills in a specific topic to meet the employer's demand or need for job change. • Are topics that cannot be addressed in an hour. At least a day is needed to provide the useful info. • Provide CEU/PDH for an engineer in a short time • Keep members up-to-date in specific technical topics.

  22. Organize One Workshop in 2012 • R4 will support up to $3K per section • It is preferred that: • Industry Involvement • Time be allocated for membership promotion • Survey to be made on interest of attending members at the end of the workshop. • Good planning • Registration fee substantially be low for members than non-members
