  1. Enhancing Security Measures with the GPS Tracking Technology Market The global development plans are encouraged by a modern approach for almost every daily activity performed by people. The standard activities such as driving to a new place in town have been simplified with the gradual development in technology in Google Maps, a GPS enabled mobile application. The development of such mobile applications has introduced a different approach to effortlessly locate an individual or vehicle. The GPS tracker for vehicles enhances the security tasks by introducing a new kind of technology to the market.

  2. However, the GPS tracker for cars wasn’t the initial objective of its creation. The Global Positioning System or GPS has been the bedrock of certainty and security for the common consumers and businesses for decades. The word GPS today doesn’t amount to much awe but was a boon of ages when it was initially released to the world. GPS wasn’t meant to be used by the common people in its initial days, it was only limited to the US military as they developed and launched several satellites. Giving access to such an instrument to the public meant an endangered hegemony that the US wasn’t ready to risk. The US military officially introduced the GPS project back in 1973, but a decade later, due to an unfortunate turn of events, President Ronald Reagan opened this system to the public on September 16, 1983. In recent years, GPS trackers have been customized not only to provide location tracking, but other factors too such as speed, duration of stops, and generic information pertaining to user needs. Trackers are also customizable, that is, consumers have the option to choose from a variety of features and decide from there on which ones they need. With the boom in cellular network speeds and technologies, induction of 2G, 3G and even 4G bandwidth options in GPS tracking devices provide a seamless tracking/monitoring experience to all.

  3. A plug-in GPS tracking device can be installed anywhere on the recipient vehicle, in the front or rear bumper, wheel wells, under floor mats or seats, or the glove compartment. However, for fleet tracking purposes, GPS trackers are almost always installed on the dashboard through an onboard diagnostics (OBD) port. OBD is a computer-based system, originally designed to reduce emissions by monitoring the performance of major engine components via the usage of input from various sensors throughout the vehicle(s). There have been two generations of OBD, namely OBD-I and OBD-II. A great example of the current GPS trackers which provide 360-degree utility and ease of usage would be the EELINK 2G OBD GPS Tracker. Essentially a fleet tracking device, this tracker provides real-time tracking information to the user and heavily off-loads the pressures of fleet management from the shoulders of workers. It also keeps saving tracking history, thus providing playback features at the user’s disposal. It also tracks crucial factors such as speed, collisions, and has an alarm built-in to notify users of anomalies. Having a GPS accurate to as little as 15 meters is what new-age technology essentially stands for.
