  1. “Eat Out To Help Out” 50% Off Scheme Continued The government started a scheme in August called “Eat Out to Help Out” where customers can get a discount of up to £10 per head at participating restaurants and other eating outlets three days a week. The scheme was started to help the hospitality industry and the economy in general, to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The scheme launched by Chancellor Rishi Sunak has proven to be a huge success and is getting lots of appreciation from the public and the hospitality industry. Eating outlets are very happy as it has brought customers back through their doors. A reputable news website reported that over 84,000 restaurants and eating outlets took part in the scheme and served more than 64 million meals in just the first three weeks of the month.

  2. The public has shown great enthusiasm and used the scheme wherever possible as the lockdown has reduced earnings for everyone, and any form of saving was much appreciated. The scheme was valid every week in August on Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, as the number of days was limited it meant popular restaurants were extremely busy. A local Taxi High Wycombe driver says they saw a significant increase in taxi journeys booked to and from participating restaurants last month. He said many times he and his colleagues had to wait with the customer outside the restaurant as there were long ques of people waiting to go in. Following social distancing guidelines means the number of covers has reduced at most restaurants which is also a contributing factor for long ques. “All Good Things Come To An End” so they say! However, that is not the case in this situation. “Eat Out to Help Out” scheme was only valid till the 31st of August

  3. 2020, but the scheme has been such a success for restaurants some have decided to extend the scheme even without the government help. Restaurants Extend the Scheme The “Eat Out to Help Out” has brought in much-needed revenue for restaurants and on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday some sense of normality had returned for the restaurant owners balance sheets, hence there is no surprise that many of them have decided to continue running the initiative even without government intervention. Some restaurants have kept the same days as the government scheme as it brings much- needed customers at the quiet end of the week and they are generally busier on weekends when people are out and about a bit more. Please try to book your table in advance as the demand will be even greater at restaurants like Wetherspoons, Bill’s, Harvester and many others that have decided to continue with the scheme.
