  1. QUALITY ASSURANCE: Obstetrics Auditing, Records & Reports, Norms, Policies & Protocols.

  2. DEFINITION Quality assurance is the process of verifying or determining whether the products or services meet or exceed the customers expectations. Quality assurance is a process driven approach with the specific steps to help define & attain goals. This process considers designs, development, production & services.

  3. PLAN Establish objectives and processes required to deliver the desired results.

  4. DO Implement the process developed by the team.

  5. CHECK Monitor and evaluate the implemented process by testing the results against the pre determined objectives.

  6. ACT Apply actions necessary for the improvement if the results require any changes.

  7. INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE This refers to the audit & assessment done by a team from within the organization.

  8. EXTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE It refers to the audit and assessment done by a team from outside the organization, with the purpose of making the evaluation more objective.

  9. EFFECTIVE AUDIT 1. Improves practice 2. Promotes the efficient use of the resources. 3. Improves the staff morale & motivation. 4. Meets the need for the EMERGENCY MEDICAL OBSTERTICAL CARE. 5. Increases utilization of the care.

  10. PREPARATORY PHASE 1. Forming the audit team. 2. Selecting a topic for the audit. 3. Define cases or unit of analysis. 4. Set criteria. 5. Identify information resources. 6. Design the data extraction sheet.

  11. AUDIT CYCLE 7. Data collection. 8. Analysis. 9. Recommendation / action plan. 10. Implementation of the action plan. 11. Repeat audit cycle to evaluate action plan.
