  2. JFK’s Inaugural Address • Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.- JFK’s inaugural address

  3. Topic • John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address was a confirmation of the United States’ commitment to the policy of containment.

  4. Point of View • Kennedy was reassuring a nation that was afraid of the ever present threat of communism and nuclear war with the Soviet Union.

  5. Inferences/ Outside information • The threat of the Soviet Union would end nearly thirty-one years later after JFK gave this speech.
