  1. Aadhar Card: India's Unique Identification System The Aadhar Card is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It serves as a proof of identity and address for residents of India. The card contains basic demographic and biometric information such as name, date of birth, gender, address, fingerprint, and iris scan. The Aadhar initiative was launched in 2009 to streamline identity verification and improve access to public services and subsidies. It is now used in various sectors including banking, mobile services, tax filings, and welfare schemes. Enrolling for Aadhar is voluntary and free of cost. Residents can apply by visiting authorized Aadhar enrollment centers with valid documents. Once generated, the Aadhar number is permanent and does not change over time. Despite its benefits in simplifying service delivery and reducing fraud, the Aadhar system has faced concerns over data privacy and security. However, UIDAI has implemented several measures to protect user data and prevent misuse.
