  2. ThereTheirThey’re When you speak, there, their, and they’re sound alike. However, these three words are used and spelled differently. You need to remember these differences to write them correctly.

  3. ThereTheirThey’re There = refers to a place Their = is a possessive adjective (shows possession) They’re = means they are

  4. Check out these examples! They’re playing basketball. (they are)

  5. Or…… They’re reading Lord of the Flies. They’re going to the Celtics game. They’re trying out for track. They’re having a great time. They’re bored right now. Can everyone in the room think of a sentence? They’re …………

  6. What about THERE? The word there indicates a specific location or place. Brighton High School McDonalds My House

  7. There---continued There is an expression of place. Often, but not always, there is used as an adverb. Examples: My keys are over there on the table. My uncle is having a party, and I promised I would be there. Kevin is at the gym, I’ll go there after school.

  8. There---continued Sometimes, there is used as a pronoun to start a sentence. Examples: There is a lot of work to finish. There is some milk in the refrigerator. There were many cars on the highway last night.

  9. Last one…. THEIR The word their is a possessive adjective. In the example below, it means both students have the same test. The girls are studying for their test.

  10. Last one…. THEIR Remember, their is a possessive adjective. Place their BEFORE a NOUN: Their car… Their books…. Their practice…. Their mother ….

  11. THEIR Sentences using the word “their”!! The students are studying their lessons. The athletes are doing their exercises. Taurus and Michael are watching their favorite shows.
