The Supernova Portal, created in 2006, is a platform for students and teachers to gather and analyze observations, access educational materials, and exchange information on supernovae. With over 25 registered schools and 100 users, the portal offers around 40 objects for observation and provides observational data like light curves and FITS files. Portal of supernovae: fast facts • Created in May – September 2006 as a part of Hands-On Universe, Europe project; the idea is to allow gathering and analyzing observations done by students and teachers, providing them with educational materials and to facilitate contacts and exchange of information • Authors of the portal: Lech Mankiewicz (the idea, administration) Krzysztof Rochowicz (content, administration) Jan Pomierny (graphical project, HTML code) Krzysztof Czart (database, PHP and HTML codes) Małgorzata Czart (translation)
Portal of supernovae: users and uses • 25 registered schools (Poland: 15, U.K.: 4, U.S.: 2, Portugal: 2, Germany and China) • over 100 registered users (mainly students and teachers); guests and visitors • around 40 objects recommended for observations (updated weekly) and around 40 in the archive • for most of them (except discovered lately) usually several observational data (photometry, FITS files)
