Passover is the meal we eat that commemorates the Lamb's blood on our doorposts, heart
BUT IT IS A MATTER OF THE HEART!…AS WELL… “They will know us by our LOVE….”
ELEMENTS OF PASSOVER • Lamb • Bitter Herbs • Unleavened Bread
WHAT’S BEEN ADDED • Wine • Salty Water • Egg • Chicken, Fish, Beef • Charoset
THAT CONCLUDES THE LORD’S INSTRUCTIONS TO MOSES REGARDING PASSOVER AND ITS SUBSEQUENT ANNUAL MEMORIAL
Did you notice that the Passover instructions contain the commandment to put lamb’s blood on the doorpost, but the memorial instructions do not? • The memorial instructions are completely different than the Passover instructions.
DID YOU NOTICE THAT THE PASSOVER EVENT AND THE MEMORIAL EVENT ARE DIFFERENT? • PASSOVER – BLOOD ON DOORPOSTS • MEMORIAL – NO BLOOD ON DOORPOSTS
H5236 • נכר • nêkâr • nay-kawr' • From H5234; foreign, or (concretely) a foreigner, or (abstractly) heathendom: - alien, strange (+ -er). • Someone who lives in the land but doesn't want to integrate into the culture... Doesn't want to join the covenant.
H8453 • תּשׁב תּושׁב • tôshâb tôshâb • to-shawb',to-shawb' • (The second form used in Kings Num_17:1); from H3427; a dweller (but not outlandish, H5237); especially (as distinguished from a native citizen (active participle of H3427) and a temporary inmate, H1616, or mere lodger, H3885) resident alien: - foreigner-inhabitant, sojourner, stranger. • Someone passing through.
Hired help: • H7916 • שׂכיר • śâkı̂yr • saw-keer' • From H7936; a man atwages by the day or year: - hired (man, servant), hireling.
H1616 • גּיר גּר • gêr gêyr • gare,gare • From H1481; properly a guest; by implication a foreigner: - alien, sojourner, stranger.
H1481 • גּוּר • gûr • goor • A primitive root; properly to turn aside from the road (for a lodging or any other purpose), that is, sojourn (as a guest); also to shrink, fear (as in a strange place); also to gather for hostility (as afraid): - abide, assemble, be afraid, dwell, fear, gather (together), inhabitant, remain, sojourn, stand in awe, (be) stranger, X surely.
Someone who is there to part of the culture. They dwell there as part of the culture whereas the foreigner - naykar - is there but has no intention of becoming part of the culture.
AFTER SEVERAL MORE VERSES, MOSES GIVES THE LORD’S PASSOVER INSTRUCTIONS TO THE PEOPLE
MOSES TEACHES PEOPLE THERE WILL BE AN ORDINANCE / REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE MEMORIAL
The LORD gave to Moses a set of instructions for Passover and a different set for its annual memorial. • The Passover instructions include putting lamb’s blood on the doorposts. The memorial instructions do not contain this blood ritual.
Then Moses explains to the ELDERS the instructions for the Passover, but does not mention the annual memorial ritual.
Moses explained the Passover to the PEOPLE and then told them there would be an ordinance coming on how they were to keep the annual memorial.
Scattered throughout Exodus chapter 12 are two sets of instructions: Passover and Memorial. • The Passover instructions command putting blood on the doorposts. • The Memorial instructions make no mention of putting blood on the doorposts. Instead, the Memorial instruction is about eating unleavened bread.
Did the LORD deliberately make these instructions confusing or are we to do precisely what He says? • The original event included lamb’s blood on the doorposts. • The annual memorial event does not.
This is clear once we see WHO was being spoken to and WHAT the instruction was and that there are two different sets of instructions for the original Passover and its annual memorial.
Be Blessed! Thank you for listening! TheMessianicMessage.com
