Gospel according to Mark (1) • There is one Mark only • Suggestion Eusebius: Mk was interpreter of Petrus • Mk 1:1; Lk 1:1-4 ‘Glad tidings of Jesus Christ, Son van God’ • Specific for Mark • 3: 7-12, healings, Jesus and the great multitude • 4: 26-29, the life of the sower • 7: 31-37, healing of the deaf and dumb man • 8: 22-26, healing of a blind man • 14:51-52, a young man flees

Gospel according to Mark (2) • The Lord Jesus as a Servant (1:38b). • Js 42:1 “Behold my servant, whom I uphold”. • The Lord Jesus is God, chpt. 1:2, 11 • Typical for Mark • An introduction of 20 verses • 1:15; to believe, drawn nigh and teaching • 1:16; walking versus stood • 3:5; distressed about the hardening • 3:6; at this stage counsel about destruction

  11. Chapter 11 / 13: Hij came to his own.. • King, Priest and …..Prophet • Only for a short time a King • No fruit for God • God not honoured • No respect for Him • No ministry to Him • Take heed of deception • His words will not pass away

  12. Chpt 14/16: The hour is come (14:41) • Even now He pays tribute to some one else (14:9) • Even now paying homage to that other Person (14:26) • Only Mark mentions the ‘Abba, Father’ • Peter was at ease and slept, the Lord was deeply depressed. • The (linen) cloth in 14:52; 15:46 and 16:5 • The reed • Only when they see Him they believe.

  13. He, they, and we (16:19, 20) • He sat at the right hand of God. • They going forth preached everywhere. • He was working with them by confirming the word • And we, • Just a servant….
